Royal Christmas Messages 2017

Most graciously, Queen Veronika I and Princess Sarah shared their Royal Christmas Messages in year 3.

Christian Blinzer

Merry Christmas,

I would like to submit my sincerest greetings to all my citizens, inhabitants and guests of our beautiful Austria. We have just experienced a very exciting year, there were reasons for joy and reasons to mourn. Fortunately, our country was not struck by a terrorist attack, but we have to express our deepest sympathy with all the victims of such cruel assaults.

In the future, we are going to face a lot of severe challenges on the national as well as on the international level. It might be difficult to overcome the problems which will arise, but if we all stand together, work hard and take responsibility, we will succeed in the end. I have no doubt about that. We should show courage, kindness and tolerance. Our most important mission is to care for those needing us most. In a world full of people who could not care less, be someone who could not care more.

That being said, I wish you all the best. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Queen Veronika I

Happy Christmas everyone,

We normally spend this time of the year with our families, friends or just people we are extremely close to. It is no secret that 2017 was a stressful and energy-intensive year. Many people lost their families because of wars taking place in Syria and elsewhere. Peaceful demonstrations turned into bloody wars, made the headlines in every other article and traumatised children are now growing up in poverty and in ruins. A huge number of refugees came to us. Of course, we did not expect that and it also shocked us, but in these moments of darkness we stood side by side and helped.

One Bible verse says: “Jesus spoke to them again and said: I am the light of the world. Those who follow me will not walk in darkness, but they will have the light of life.” I think we all thought of this message this year a little bit, because I could see this spark in each and every one of you. The help, the fairness, the respectful interaction. I saw the lights.

Many people say that the first Christmas after losing a loved one is particularly hard. But it is also a time to remember everything that we have to be thankful for. It also allows us to reflect on the year that has passed, as to think of those who are far away or no longer with us. Christmas is a good time to be thankful for them, and for everything that brings light to our lives, beginning with “the man or woman in the mirror”, a little, yet big sentence which should encourage us to spread the light for others.

I wish you all merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Your awesome Princess Sarah
